Well, Emma and Chris’s wedding at the Shankly hotel in Liverpool seems to have been planned forever. It always seemed a distant thing to do. Then all of a sudden there it was! I’ve know Emma and her mum Janine for a few years now and it was fantastic to be part of Emma and Chris’s wedding in Liverpool.
Most of the suppliers were chosen from North Wales as that’s where Emma and Chris live, so we all packed our bags and travelled over the border to England.
As I am a North Wales wedding photographer I’m used to mountains, fields, lakes and beaches. A city wedding is a completely different beast with traffic, buildings and people everywhere.
The Shankly hotel as a wedding venue.
I met up with Emma and the girls in the Shankly hotel for the bridal prep part of the day. Chris sent a couple of his groomsmen up with a gift and a letter for Emma. As it was read out by a bridesmaid there were tears from everyone. A very touching moment that left everyone a mess.
Chris and the boys headed out of the hotel to have a quick drink in a pub in Everton before heading off to St Francis Xavier Church to await Emma.
The church was a huge cavernous one and was decorated beautifully with flowers and decor by Let’s Party, the company run by Emma’s mum.
We travelled to the church in the Rolls, in the rain (boo!) through Liverpool and arrived at the church in good time.
After the ceremony there was the confetti and group photos. As all the guests then headed back off to the Shankly hotel the bride and groom and myself went off for just a few minutes to get some photographs by the Mersey and Liver building. Whilst we were doing that a magician was entertaining the guests on the rooftop of the Shankly hotel. He was terrific and left the guest amazed, and thoroughly mystified.
Into the Little Eden suite
The wedding breakfast was in the Little Eden suite in the Shankly hotel. An intimate room ideal for Emma and Chris’s wedding. Again, it was beautifully decorated by Janine and the Let’s Party gang. The flowers supplied by Scent with love were spectacular, as was the flower wall and the two bride and groom’s white thrones from Opulence venue styling.
The evening started off with with a game of Mr and Mrs, using the thrones to great effect. I’m not sure who won the game but it certainly was funny.
Great DJing and Magic mirror photos by Event Lounge
A really brilliant day spent with friends, couples I’ve photographed before and fantastic guests. One to live long in the memory.
A big thanks also to Becky from Storyteller photography for helping out and shadowing the boys the morning.
